Markum Receives Endorsement for House District 33.

The Oklahoma Republican Assembly took over the Oklahoma State Capitol building, literally! Holding its Statewide Endorsing Convention in the Chambers of the State House of Representatives, Delegates sitting at the very desks many of their candidates were seeking endorsed a slate of conservatives.

Dozens of candidates worked the Delegates for support, answering a questionnaire upon entering and then having only a couple of minutes to address the crowd, many of the candidates stayed for lunch to have a further chance to sway opinion toward their cause.

Oklahoma Republican Assembly (OKRA) President Tim Pope, a retired State Representative himself, said, "The only way we can be certain to have quality candidates in November is to make sure we have the best conservative candidates win the primary on July 25th." Pope continued, "Conservatives will only be relevant in Oklahoma politics if we make ourselves relevant, and that is what the Republican Assembly does." "By doing what the Party organization can't do," Pope explained, "specifically endorsing candidates pre-primary, we make certain that we are organized and working to secure victory for the best conservative Republicans.  Ron Markum is certainly the best qualified for this seat.”

The Republican Assembly movement began in California many decades ago but garnered a significant endorsement when Ronald Reagan called them the "Conscience of the Republican Party" and further stated that he "would not have had the success he had in his campaigns if it had not been for the efforts of the California Republican Assembly."  Endorsed candidate, Ron Markum of House District 33 said, “I whole-heartedly agree with the beliefs of the Republican Assemblies and encourage the voters of this district to investigate the organization for themselves”.  He continued, ”If the voters will look at the Republican Assemblies statement of beliefs and principles on their web site, they will see what I believe and apparently what my opponent does not believe since she referred to this organization as ‘bogus’.”

OKRA endorsed candidates range from County Commission to U.S. Congress.  OKRA endorsements require an overwhelming two-thirds majority vote.  Ron Markum received a nearly unanimous endorsement for the District 33 House race.
